Velosia’s Legacy
Pastor Velosia Ann Walker Kibe has affectionately been known throughout Houston, Texas as a “Preaching Machine”. She faithfully served Windsor Village Church Family as an Associate Pastor from June 1997 until December 2016. As an alumnus of the prestigious University of Texas at Austin, she studied Music and Classical Voice. She went on to attend University of Houston, where she double majored in Psychology and Sociology. When she received her calling to Pastoral Ministry, she pursued her theological education by completing a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Methodist University, as was honored to receive the “Weatherford Award” for outstanding student preaching.
During Pastor Kibe’s lifetime, she faithfully served the Texas Annual Conference and blessed 6 six churches as Pastor while applying her grace filled gifts of preaching and teaching both inside and outside the 4 walls of the church. As a Pastoral leader while serving at Windsor Village UMC, she led The Veterans’ Ministry and The Missions Ministry with projects implemented in the Caribbean, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Nigeria, Ghana and Houston’s Third Ward.
In 2005, Pastor Velosia found her true passion in partnership with her husband Daniel Kibe in the heart of East Africa. This is where her vision to minister to the urgent needs of the community began to take shape. She saw the special needs of children and became a staunch advocate to provide a safe haven for orphans. With the help of her loving husband Daniel and a host of Kingdom-minded volunteers, Pastor Kibe oversaw the construction of the VKBC campus which includes a residential children’s facility, library, volunteer center, sanctuary, and a medical facility.
Her rich legacy of helping people in need, especially orphaned children became the focus of her joy. In her heart, she had the vision to minister to the community in Dundori and beyond. Her indelible mark of faith, evangelizing, preaching and building bridges for others work are being fully realized through the ongoing efforts of the Velosia Kingdom Builders’ Center.
