Being a leader in Global Missions (GM) brings me great joy and can be heart breaking. When I see the condition that a person is living it touches me deeply; and when a frown becomes a smile it touches me as well. We African American missionaries have a great task ahead of us: we must be prepared to share and spread the love of Jesus Christ , be willing to get dirty and come out of our comfort zone and most of all to remain humble through it all. Serving in the field of missions one may never know what to expect. I realize that every mission trip will not be the same, but I must do what I have been commissioned to do.
“While we were in Reynosa, MX the Josiah and Bethany Children’s Home (orphanage) that we went to were in need of financial assistance. The disconnect deadline to make the electricity payment was the 10th of December or they’re electricity was going to be disconnected. Marlan Hall was talking with the directors of the orphanage and asked them what their immediate need was. They told him that they had been praying that they would receive financial support for their electricity. Marlon located me sitting by a tree alone; I was just observing the children and all the activities that were going on. He introduced us and mentioned their need; I was just thinking to myself, what is it that we can do? When I heard what the request was I told them it was done. At this orphanage they have two buildings, one is the living quarters and the other is where their office is located. With the two buildings they had two different light bills. In total they needed a payment of sixteen hundred dollars. I am glad to say that we helped to meet the immediate need of the orphanage and they did not have to be in the dark.”
